Lost Tracks – Joey by Concrete Blonde

So I’m starting a new feature called “Lost Tracks” to get us through what I think everyone will agree is the absolute worst time of the year.  The Super Bowl is over, Valentine’s Day is depressing, the weather sucks, March Madness hasn’t started yet and baseball is a month and a half away.  Really nothing whatsoever to recommend this section of the calendar.  You could pull my fingernails out one by one until I identified a worse time of the year and I would bleed out from the ends of my fingers and thumbs.   Continue reading

Proof the MSM is in the Tank for the Dems

It may not always be conscious, but it’s true.  The main stream media is full of biased, left leaning, democrats.  As a regular feature, and without even trying hard, I intend to bring such bias to light.  Take this LA Times article about Saturday Night’s GOP Debate (or as we on the String like to refer to it “Return to Thunderdome”).

http://www.latimes.com/nation/politics/la-na-gop-south-carolina-20160215-story.html

Money quote (and third paragraph no less):

“Candidates promoted opposition to gay rights and to abortion under any circumstances and support for unfettered access to guns, all issues that please the Republican base but run counter to the views of a general election audience.”

Really?  That’s’ what you took away from the debate?  Dog-whistle much?  I must have been on a different feed.  I won’t even go into how misleading that description is.   But, the author does latter expound on the candidates positions and you will be shocked I am sure to see that the facts don’t match the flat statements at the beginning of the article.  For example, saying that the Democrats want unfettered access to abortion means that you want abortion available under any circumstances.

That’s not even the real issue though.  My take of the debate was that it was primarily focused on whether the President should be allowed to nominate a successor to Justice Scalia as a lame duck (see Pipes’ excellent post on that issue below) and whether the Iraq war was a mistake.   The first issue got about 5 words and how far do we need to go into the article for a discussion of the discussion of the Iraq war?  Other than a reference to former President George W. Bush, it’s not mentioned.

But wait, it does describe Secretary Clinton as the adult in the room though.  YHGTBSM!

This isn’t an opinion piece folks, unreal.  No wait, it’s what I expected.

SeaDick is in the House — Time for this Joint to get fair and balanced!

SeaDick here. I’ve been loving the posts from Pipes, but as you have undoubtedly noticed he leans a little to the left.  Since I lean a little to the right (fiscal conservative, social liberal, so don’t get you panties in a bunch thinking I’m a Cruz fan or something) I thought I would jump on here occasionally to add a little balance.

Don’t go expecting me to be as prolific as Pipes (I have a real job), but I will try to provide the counter-point to his point (“Pipes, you ignorant slut”).  I’m going to add a couple of regular features, such as the “String Pic of the Week” and “Proof That The Main Stream Media is a Working Arm of the Democratic Party.”  Should be fun.  As the String is want to say, “What Could Go Wrong?”

This is YUGE!!! Scalia is Dead!

scalia

The news of Justice Scalia’s death may be the biggest political event of our lifetime.  With all due respect to Justice Scalia, his family, his brilliance and his undeniable legacy, Justice Scalia’s death at this particular time in our nation’s history may be the greatest news for liberals since McCain picked Sarah Palin as vice president, and maybe since Nixon broke a sweat in 1960.
